Inground Swimming Pools
Beauty, functionality, and durability describe inground swimming pools. Vacation right at home with your own inground swimming pool right in your backyard. Nothing beats the heat on a hot summer’s day like inground swimming pools! Inground swimming pools not only help you cool off on a hot day, but residents look to inground pools for recreation, exercise, and competitive sports.
TYPES OF INGROUND SWIMMING POOLS
Construction methods for inground swimming pools vary. There are 3 primary types of construction methods: vinyl, shotcrete and gunite, and fiberglass. All three require the ground be excavated in readiness for the pool. A fiberglass pool is created in a single piece off-site, delivered by truck, and set into the prepared excavation. Fiberglass pools can be designed in any shape, and have a nonabrasive finish that lasts for years. A gunite or shotcrete pool has a steel rebar framework. Contractors spray shotcrete or gunite (sprayable types of concrete) onto the framework. Older cast in place style concrete pools required the concrete be poured into wooden forms. Alternatively, the pool could be constructed with concrete blocks. Shotcrete and gunite pools take less time to construct than cast in place concrete, and offer more design options. Vinyl formed inground pools use a vinyl lining attached to a structural wall. Vinyl inground pools offer some of the cheapest initial construction costs, but the vinyl must be replaced every ten to fifteen years.
